Conjuring Moments Birthwork

Bringing ancestral healing, knowledge, and tradition to create sacred moments to every aspect of your fertility journey, especially for expecting parents and families who are queer, gender diverse or nonconforming, and people of the global majority (black, brown, and indigenous peoples).

Who am I?

Who am I?

Through the challenging birth of my eldest son, I intimately learned how American healthcare often fails those with the capacity for pregnancy. My journey, bereft of support, ignited my mission to guide clients towards a more positive experience that aligns with their desires while prioritizing the well-being of both parent and child.

From 2006 to 2021, I pursued self-guided learning, and I've recently completed training with Whole Body Pregnancy's Childbirth Educator program and bebomia's full-spectrum Maternal Support Professional training. My commitment to continuous growth and knowledge is unwavering, ensuring I provide the best possible support.

I hold a deep belief that birth is sacred—a gift from our ancestors deserving of utmost care and respect. My primary focus is on serving those most vulnerable to the shortcomings of our medical system: black, brown, and indigenous individuals, queer and trans parents, and disabled parents. As a member of the queer and trans community, with a trans son and another born to a trans father, I've supported diverse gender experiences in the birthing process, recognizing the unique tapestry of family structures.

Frequently asked questions

What is a doula?

Though I prefer to use birthkeeper, a doula is a compassionate and educated companion, providing unwavering support throughout a number of aspects of life, traditionally birth, but also menstruation, fertility, gender transition, abortion, loss, and even your own end of life. I doula’s goal is to help comfort and educate you, and provide you with resources for support they may not be able to provide themselves.

What areas do I serve?

I provide support throughout the country, either in person or through virtual means. For those who are within 60 miles, there is no travel cost. For those who are 60+ miles away, there is an additional travel fee. For those who are 400+ miles away, there is an additional fee to arrange lodging as well.

Menstruation

& Fertility

Menstruation and fertility support are two heavily related sides of the same coin. While the education and support may change based on whether you are newly menstruating or exploring your fertility, it’s no secret that the options and information can be overwhelming. I’d love to help guide you through it.

Pregnancy &

Childbirth

Every birth is unique. Every person giving birth is unique. Every family is unique. So while I have a range of birthkeeping packages available, I also offer customized packages, to make sure you get exactly the support you need.

Antepartum

&Postpartum

Parenthood was never intended to be something we do without support. Once baby has arrived, or as you prepare for baby’s birth, I am happy to provide antepartum and postpartum emotional, physical, and educational support for you and your family.

Ab, Bereavement, & End of Life

I can not give honor to birth as a natural and beautiful transition without acknowledging that we often need support through loss, or the end of our own lives, as well. Please do not feel you must go through any of the above alone.

All support is sliding scale.

“An intensely beautiful delivery, handled so well with an amazing doula. Thank you for helping me through such a magical experience.”

Bradie, 2/2023, UT

Extremely dedicated and highly professional birth worker. She puts in amazing time and effort to make sure you feel safe and valued. I trust her completely and feel positive about my future when working with her.

“Such an amazing experience and you made it all the better being there. Thank you so very much!”

Amelia, 9/8/2022, WA

"She has been amazing with helping our family prepare for this birth even with being long distance. She has provided my husband and I resources on how to prepare for my anticipated vbac, sent us videos and learning materials to help with stress and when I was confined to the hospital for a week she was on call for me even if I just needed to have someone to talk to day or night. I even recommended her to a friend who is a first time mom."

Mimi, 6/14/2022, WA

"I love it so much!!!! I mf did that... I crowned so well to not gonna lie I was proud of myself once I saw the head... Thank you, I appreciate y'all so much."

Everly-Autumn, 2022, WA

"Sage is one of the most empathetic and caring human beings I have had the pleasure of working with. Their humility while working with clients is unmatched, willing to admit when they need to more thoroughly research something, and also able to provide logical alternatives based on client demographics. They take the time to consider the clients wants and needs to give them the best birth experience they can have. Their care for each unique pregnancy has helped over a dozen families as they transition into their new lives. Sage is also an amazing collaborator, focused on working as a peer, rather than as the expert. Every opportunity to work with them I welcome with delight, as I know the environment will be a relaxing, affirming, and safe environment."

Marissa, 2022, UT

"Sage is one of those people that it’s just so easy to connect with, you forget you haven’t been old friends for years. Birth is terrifying, the education system is lacking and at least where I grew up, wasn’t really talked about. So trying to navigate both the lack of information out there, as well as misinformation is hard enough as it is – let alone being pregnant in the process. To have that level of connection with someone as they guided me through pregnancy, delivery, and especially postpartum support was a blessing, and I feel like there’s not enough words in the world to express that adequately. I couldn’t have asked for a better doula, Sage is a gift to anyone their working with."

Bradley, 2021, UT

"Sage was initially hired as a birth doula, but not far into my partner’s pregnancy, they miscarried. Sage’s support as a doula and experience with their own miscarriages was really amazing. I’d never been through anything like that, and neither had my wife. They did so well helping show me how to be supportive, and making space for me to grieve by myself and with my wife. I don’t know that there’s anything better they could have done to support our family. If we decide to try again, she’s definitely our doula."

Sylus, 1/1/2017, OR

"Sage was my primary support while giving birth to my son. As a transman, the concept of giving birth in a traditional hospital setting was honestly kind of terrifying. Sage helped to keep me comfortable, keep labor going, and keep the staff from misgendering or dead naming me. I don’t plan to have any more kids, but if I do, I hope she’s there."

Sharazad, 11/25/2014, OR

"I am physically disabled, due to a back injury from high school. When I conceived my son, I knew I would need support, as my family didn’t approve. When I hired her for support for my pregnancy and c-section, I wanted to choose someone who had been through it and could help me with what I should expect. She went above and beyond. Not only helping me prepare for the surgery, but helping to prepare our home, the baby’s space, supporting us from the moment we were in the hospital until after the delivery, even helping to keep the room calm when our parents, step parents, and siblings were visiting."
